Quinten

Evaluation

For my Quentin look I wanted him to look very gothic, with a pale face and dark eyes. I started with his eyes applying black powder eye shadow to his top eyelid and brought this down to his lower lash line. I applied black eye pencil inside his bottom inner lash line. For his foundation I mixed matte Illamasqua primer to my Ben Nye cream foundation, as I wanted the texture of his skin to look quite dry.
I contoured his cheekbones to give a gaunt look.
Looking back on the picture I think I should have applied more black liner to his bottom lash line, as it doesn’t look that intense. His hair was too short to style. If I had longer hair to work with it would have been nice to give it a messy look. I would have liked it to be dark as well.
If I were to do this look again I would probably choose a model with darker hair or even got a wig to create my desired look. I would maybe add some special effect make up using blood to give it a twisted edge. Overall I am pleased with everything else.

Claudia

Evaluation

My design for Claudia was to have a dark look to her. This was through her eye make up using black powder eye shadow and mixing this with water to make it more intense. The Charles Fox powder I had was not showing up very well so I mixed my black powder shadow from my sleek palette which worked much better. When I was applying this I already had applied her cream foundation and translucent powder on top. So when I had fall out from the eye shadow this was very difficult to remove. I had to remove the foundation I applied with cleanser and apply the foundation again to get rid of the black powder on her cheek.
I like the colour of the pale lips so the focus is drawn to her eyes. I also added some black tooth annamul so it looks like she has a missing tooth. This gives the effect of someone who has not been able to take care of herself properly.
With her hair I created a middle parting using my pintail comb. I then applying mouse onto the comb and brushed this through her hair and pinned just behind her ears creating a slicked back look
If I were to produce this look again I would apply her eye make up on first to prevent the trouble of any fallout. I would perhaps apply more mouse and pin this back tighter so her hair looks more stuck to the head.
Overall I achieved the look I wanted.

Hair charts for Claudia

Dirtying down, how to break down an artist/models make-up. Dirt, stained teeth, and dirty hair

When are you seeing this artist?  How to make someone look like they have no make up on.       -Put base on and cream blusher. Waterproof type makeup. Grease blusher. Waterproof mascara. Fill in brows with eye gel, this doesn’t move. Use brown mascara.

- Get them to have their eye lash extension                                                                                          - No lipstick!  Men wear little as possible                                                                                                  - What environment are they in?                                                                                                  - Makeup would ware off? What kind of dirt?                                                                                    - Can buy different muds                                                                                                                  - Hand would be filthy if you fell                                                                                                        - Dirt nails down                                                                                                                                 - Pull up sleeves make them dirty                                                                                                          - If trousers are ripped dirty then they will be inside                                                                       - Brill cream- good for making hair greasy. Make roots really greasy then pull them down to ends                                                                                                                                          - - - Dry shampoo to dirty hair down                                                                                                       - Tooth anamul - black, gold, white by krylan                                                                                     - Dry tooth you use it on with baby bud. Apply with a baby bud                                                       - Black on camera make it looks like it disappeared                                                                                 - The nicotine makes it look rotten

I took the make up off, added moisturiser to hand, supra colour dirty the fingers. Make sure you bend the fingers so you don't get the lines. And In between fingers, palm of hand and make sure you go in between fingers. Krylan or Brandell spray over the hand. Teeth- dry tooth with cotton bud. Colour tooth with bud. Keep mouth open to dry. Methey spirit - dip baby bud. Use supra colours and mix and blend on the face. Reds use spittle sponge

I made sure gown was on model, hair was out the face and my area was clean and tidy. Lookig back at the picture I should have stippled more with the sponge as the stubble looks blended in too much. I like the effect the tooth brings to the look. I enjoyed dirtying down. This is perhaps something I will do on m Quentin character.

Dark Eyes and Lips

This eye make up is what my teacher did showing me how to do a glamour smokey eye.

Symmetrical lips
Put base over edge of lips
Cupid point highest point of lips
Go from corners and head towards top
Can place gloss in middle and blend out
Can highlight 1-3 shades lighter above lip
To check if lips are symmetrical get hand mirror infront of model then look from behind
Demo
Don't overload your brush
Foundation over lip edges

Smokey eye - strong glamour look
Cotton bud, water
Dip brush in water then dip in eye shadow so you won't get fallout
Start from crease line making the shape then under lash line
Fill in entire lid join under eye
Go shape different dark grey over crease
Water in white in corner inside under lash line
Blend with more colour dry
Blend out harsh line
Use bud to blend out corner
Blend in the inside
Can use powder and water for eye liner
On the mobile can add glitter and shimmer

Glamour smokey eye
Principle of three colours

With brown powder shadow create shape
Mid tone over whole lip
Make line strong
Try not to get a pointy wing effect looks dated. Make nice round shape
Whatever the main dark colour creating shape and depth always being it down
Blend with bud
White on brow bone
White over mobile lid middle
Make sure liner disappears in lash line

I really like the colour of the bold lip as it suits my model. I may use this in my final design. I also like the look of the smokey eye. I would like to try this and add glitter on top for a more glamorous look.

4 Face Charts for Claudia

4 face charts for Claudia inspired by moodboard images

Creating light scars using moulds, using colour

- If your making loads of moulds can put tiny Bit of Vaseline. You want a dry mould.
- Pour melted gelatine in
- Can put gelatine in fridge
- If ever filming in the summer leave in a cool bag. Do not leave make up in car or hot place
- Stick on prosthetic pieces with  Prosaide
- Clean area of skin your gunna stick prosthetic on
- Do not moisturise area your gunna stick anything on

Clean piece of skin. Make sure it is dry
Get Prosaide with baby bud
Get glue to the very edge of the prosthetics
Put on prosthetic piece
Roll on edges pressing down on skin
With gelatine with water to melt edges away
Make sure you blend your colours out
If it's an old wound powder it
Then colour in - reds yellows etc
Can use wound filler
Powder when dry not when your making it

Looking back at the mould you can see the edges where the prosthetic piece starts. So if I was to create this again I would blend out the edges much more with water.

Introduction to Claudia - Fashion base and contour

Claudia- girl in her 20s. Neglected child. Developed unhealthy relationship with horror films
She doesn't leave the house
Copies the character of whatever movie she watches
She has a fantasy boyfriend

Claudio

Reference, research
Create consultation note
Skin type, skin sensitivity, beauty ragime, products used
Contemporary
Something edgy, unnerving

Once my model had cleanse, toned and moisturised I applied Ben Nye foundation mixed with more moisturised.
I went around two shades lighter to contour her cheekbones, jawline and temples with my contour brush.
I highlighted with white foundation over her nose, under eyes and forehead.
With my powder brush powdered over this with translucent powder.

I like how the base looks here. Its very simple and I haven't gone too pale.

Cat eye -
Brows- start at the root underneath going up
Middle of eye at the bottom lowest point
Start in the middle going out

I did this using my Mac brown eye pencil. If I was to do this again I would spend more time on this and use a blending brush.
